Magna Donnelly to Locate New Facility in Spartanburg Area

Magna Donnelly, a wholly owned operating group of Magna International Inc., announced plans to open a satellite facility in Duncan, South Carolina, where it will build exterior rearview mirrors for BMW Manufacturing Co., LLC. Magna Donnelly plans to begin operations at the facility in mid-November 2005. Initial employment is expected to be 25.add 5-7 additional jobs.


Morrisette Paper Company Expands To Greer Area

Morrisette Paper Company, a 43-year old company specializing in material converting, packaging equipment, packaging supplies, janitorial supplies and office supplies, is moving operations to a new location near I-85 and SC Highway 101 in Duncan, South Carolina.  The company is moving sales and distribution operations into 60,000 square feet located at 1245 Woods Chapel Road.  Morrisette Paper Company currently employs 8 individuals and plans to add 5-7 additional jobs.


Schwan Food seeks funds to expand Spartanburg Operation

Celanese acquires a portion of the National Starch facility's assets in Woodruff

Celanese, an integrated global producer of value-added industrial chemicals, acquired a portion of the National Starch facility's assets in Woodruff.  County Council amended an existing FILOT with National Starch to include Celanese.  (August 2005)


Sealed Air secured funding for a proposed expansion

Sealed Air Corporation-Cryovac Division, a leading global supplier of protective and specialty packaging solutions for industrial, food and consumer products, secured a Fee-In-Lieu-Of-Taxes agreement from County Council for a proposed expansion of the company's medical products division. The proposed project will represent $16 million in investment, creating 36 new jobs. (July 2005)

MPI Southern Fineblanking, a market leader of manufactured fineblanking-based components and assemblies, plans to expand its Spartanburg County facility located in Cowpens.  The Company plans to invest $8 million and create an additional 30 new jobs.  Spartanburg County Council approved a Fee-in-Lieu of Taxes (FILOT) agreement for this project.
