Magna expanding its Spartanburg County plant

COLUMBIA, S.C. - Magna International, a mobility technology company and one of the world's largest automotive suppliers, is expanding its seat manufacturing plant in Spartanburg County. The company's $8 million expansion is projected to create 130 new jobs.

Spartanburg, S.C. - Four exceptional Upstate companies were named 2018 Economic Visionaries by Spartanburg Community College at the annual Economic Visionaries event held at the Spartanburg Marriott on Thursday evening, March 22. Businesses honored for transforming the Upstate economy were Crow & Bulman Engineering, Johnson Development Associates, Greenville-Spartanburg Airport District and AFL. The guest speaker for the evening was Lynn Good, president, chairman and chief executive officer of Duke Energy, one of America's largest electric power companies. Amy Wood, anchor News Channel 7/WSPA TV, was the event emcee.

BMW Manufacturing Continues as Largest U.S. Automotive Exporter

Spartanburg, S.C. BMW Manufacturing announced today that it exported 272,346 BMW X models from the Spartanburg plant during 2017. Nearly 87 percent of these Sports Activity Vehicles and Coupes were exported through the Port of Charleston with an export value of approximately $8.76 billion, according to data from the U.S. Department of Commerce. This confirms that the South Carolina factory is the leading U.S. automotive exporter by value.


Grupo Antolin establishing three separate facilities in Spartanburg County

COLUMBIA, S.C. - Grupo Antolin, a designer and manufacturer of components for the automotive industry, is launching new operations in Spartanburg County by establishing three separate facilities. The $50 million investment is expected to create more than 150 new jobs over the next five years.

The SCC Michelin Manufacturing Scholars Program offers exceptional "learn and earn" opportunities for individuals interested in hands-on training, technical certification from SCC and a potential manufacturing career with Michelin. Applications from qualified candidates are now being accepted for the program and for classes that begin on May 14, 2018.

Spartanburg, S.C. - Spartanburg Community College will recognize the contributions of Upstate businesses at the second annual 2018 Economic Visionaries Celebration planned for March 22, 2018 at the Spartanburg Marriott. Four companies from Spartanburg, Union and Cherokee counties will be named "Economic Visionaries" based on their company size and significant contributions in transforming the Upstate business community. Duke Energy's President, Chairman and Chief Executive Office, Lynn Good, will be the guest speaker.
